The Natural Reserve is one of the most visited places and offers walking tours for Q 25 for children and Q 45.00 for adults. There is a breeding center for butterflies, called “El Mariposal”, which is free of entrance and offers lodging for Q 520 to Q 600.00. Children under the age of 12 don’t pay and there is space for camping and a recreation park. The Museo Lacustre is found inside Hotel Posada don Rodrigo, the entrance is Q 35.00 and you can observe pieces that show the history of Samaba, the Lost City.
The Natural Reserve is one of the most visited places of Panajachel and has spaces explaining the life of many different Mayan people, for example: Quiché, Pocomam, Chol, Kakchique, Kekchi y Mam. There are also languages which are not Mayan, for example, Xinca and Garifuna. The majority of people who live by the Atitlan Lake are Tzutuhiles who speak the language of the same name. With time passing, the use of Mayan language is getting lost, although the majority of women only speak the Mayan language.
